There once was a maiden from Stonebury Hollow. She didn't talk much, but boy, did she swallow. I had a nice lance that she sat upon. The maiden from Stonebury who is also your mom.

I actually just played through Stick of Truth and Fractured But Whole for the first time over the last week.

Great stuff.

While I was never the biggest fan of Fractured But Whole (still a decent game mind) I think what impressed me the most about Stick of truth was the fact that despite being a South Park game and clearly a shitpost of a game it still somehow manages to be a fun and competent rpg and honestly is better than a lot of turn based combat games I have played

Suppose the only thing I do often wonder about is how different it was meant to be. After all it started out in development in 2009 and took 5 years to come out and originally was being developed and made by THQ before they went bankrupt and handed the game over to Obsidian and then the game ended up having it's entire story and script being rewritten

As a result there is a TON of scrapped and cut content, cutscenes etc. There's even early beta builds of the game that are clearly very different to the final game

I mean if you watch the earliest trailer to the game about half the stuff in it including the story themes they mention just are not in the final product

I loved Stick of Truth, especially it's gameplay.

I got Fractured But Whole, but didn't know I required a Ubisoft account, so I never got to play it.

Why I won't bother with Snow Day.

I don't recall it 100 % certanty, but I think I was a Fighter. It's what I usually end up with in games.

I enjoyed both a lot, but I definitely think Stick of Truth is the better game overall. The combat was more in depth in Fractured But Whole, admittedly, but that's in part just because the style changed. But exploring the town was a lot more fun in Stick of Truth.

However, Stick of Truth's simpler combat does have one big advantage. It's just fucking Paper Mario. Paper Mario's combat was fun. It was just as fun in Stick of Truth. South Park's visual style also invokes papercraft. Stick of Truth is unironically the spiritual successor to Thousand Year Door that Nintendo refused to make. I'm looking forward to the remake of TTYD coming up, but I should have played Stick of Truth sooner.

Also Stick of Truth's soundtrack was amazing top to bottom.

>Stick is truth is pretty much just paper mario

Never before have I heard something that sounds wrong yet is so correct

>>1166791

Honestly most of the music in the game would not be out of place in a serious RPG.

Shout out to the Mongolian theme which has genuine mongolian throat singing

They did not have to go this hard and yet they did

Yeah it turns out Paper Mario was good and if you FUCKING MAKE PAPER MARIO your game ends up good!

It's literally just Paper Mario though. First strikes out of combat, action command turn based combat, traversing the overworld with a mix of your own abilities along with your following party member who has specific ways to interact with the overworld, humor, and the game is divided up into distinct chapters/days.

Any real differences like no badges can be chalked up to iteration rather than not being the same spirit.

Matt Stone and Trey Parker tend to go into things with their whole ass or they don't do it. In the commentary for the movie they basically said that the execs at Paramount were trying to convince them to make the movie PG-13 because it would make more money and they weren't biting.

Actually, Stick of Truth kind of feels like it's the second South Park movie. It's a bigger story with a more fleshed out South Park. Bigger, Longer, and Uncut is a pretty major piece of South Park media and it doesn't even really have Butters. It's really odd to go back to that movie these days and Butters is just a background kid.

It's just weird. Do you know what I am saying?

To be fair Butters was pretty much still a background charecter when the movie came out. He only really came into focus as somewhat of a joke when they killed off Kenny that one time in which he died for real and Butters replaced Kenny with the kids even calling Butters Kenny but of course everyone loves Butters so he ended up staying in focus and being more of a main charecter as a result

Also a PG-13 South Park sounds just, like.. I know companies only care about money but really?

The movie is certainly a time capsule for what South Park was at that time. In regards to my Butters point, Butters has been an important character in the show for a huge majority of the existence of South Park. Just not by the time the movie came out.

You could even say the movie came out before South Park even actually hit its stride.
