How hard is it to get a job?

Pretty hard, these days. A lot of people who are "hiring" are not actually hiring. They're either permanently keeping positions open for various financial reasons, or worse, just stealing data from your applications and selling it.

I'd like to take opportunity to reshare one of my favorite Johnny Cash songs, if it's alright, since it's on topic more or less:

Also depends on your age I think. I've got two friends, both well into their 40s, and they haven't been able to find work for two years.

I do have a job btw but just keep hearing things. Recent jobs revisions, almost double digit unemployment rate, possible evictions etc.

pretty damn hard, especially if you live somewhere that doesn't have a lot of opportunities in general.
back at the beginning of this year, i literally spent 4 months trying to get a job, and came close to a couple (including a creative producer position for a news channel); but got a no each and every time.
fortunately, the north pole hired me again, and also offered me a promotion to a supervisor role. which turned out to be a great decision for savings and resume;
but if i hadn't already done 2 years with them, there would have been far less chance to pick it up
anywho, you just gotta throw as many of those applications you can and hope that one sticks. rejection becomes just a word on the screen
No.1199358
>>1199352Now I wonder if the north pole thing is serious, or if it is a joke.
It's a bit depressing sometimes.
Things you take for granted being actually difficult to obtain.
A steady job
A marriage
Even looking at school stuff I sometimes wonder how I never saw people fail at it so much

on the flip side, if it's just as hard to get a standard boring job as it is to follow a passion dream, why not reach for the stars? if both are hard to obtain, might as well go with the one that sparks joy and passion

>>1199352Yeah job rejection sucks but like if it's an online application/interview and you don't have a referral it's a lot of luck . Hope people don't see it as a fault of their own
Nitw, nice (and relevant). Reminds me that it's fall and I need to do my annual playthrough
>>1199365Wow really? In the US it looks like you can have an amount 'disregarded' to incentivize part time work. But if where you are has no disregard amount then taking all money just makes you not work at all

No.1199384
>>1199380>>1199380Yep. The logic is to "make finding a job worth it", but all it really does is keep us trapped and turning basically all part time work we do find into theoretically free labor.
Doesn't help that the whole full time job thing just doesn't apply to certain types of work, and that it just isn't as big a standard as it used to be. But you try telling that to a bunch of politicians who haven't had to worry about their I come since they were like 16.
And I get rejected for literally everything I try regardless of competence, can't drive for various reasons though I live rurally, can't save up to ice so where clsoer to things... SOOOO I am basically just the biggest loser that ever drew breath in the eyes of anyone who gets to decide if I am allowed a more comfortable income.
It's a real fucking joy.

I do at least manage to make a little on the side on commissions now and then, which is basically the only reason I can ever afford to do anything a little fun or treat myself. But it's be nice to just, yanno. Have an income that allowed a bit of wiggle room.

No.1199441
>>1199437>>1199437I don't earn enough to save up for anything. Lately, I reach the red in the lash couple of days on the month more often than I used to, despite no changes in lifestyle.
Also, unless I make more than what I get in welfare, it's literally just subtracted from what I get paid. So I can work as much as I fucking like and get nothing out of it if I don't somehow magically find "enough" work on the regular.

I don't want to make it political.
But it's why I absolutely despise the current narrative to cut benefits from unemployed people, because they "just get paid to be lazy so they don't want to work".
Take it to a place where people have good access to stable jobs that pay a bit more than the beare minimum and get a road for people to get to those jobs easily.
As long as that is not possible, lay off on scrutinizing the unemployed.
Stop the entire bs on how people can get a job if they really wanted to work.
