Oof, Winter is coming to an end.
That means blazingly hot days will be ahead.

I don't want to go through the hot weather again like last year, but what choice do I have?

 No.1204682

I had a dream I was on some sort of road trip. It was as dark as nighttime, then all of a sudden it was day. I asked our driver, Batman, "Did we leave a forest or something?", he wasn't sure.

However, there was this tunnel, and I was concerned the vehicle would be too wide and scrape on the walls. I had to literally grab the roof of the vehicle and pull it down, concerned my thumbs will be scraped off in the darkness. But afterwards it was a casual trip.

Then we reached this place where we had to get out. A man named Caesar was surrounded by these Greek-like ruins (columns, white-tiled pools) and the pools were filled with purple bubbling stuff. He stepped into one of the pools and waled over the surface of the bubbling purple liquid and said "If we can cross over the poison, he will let us past."
I shouted at him "CAESAR" like JoJo did as my travel-mates (except Batman who was gone) attempts to walk over the poison-pools.

Given the pool I had to walk over was just a meter wide, all I did was step over it. Caesar thought I was cheating and didn't accept it. I said "I crossed over the poison, as you said."

Given we were allowed to pass, I was now an elf and dreamt I was in Aumond. But given I never actually seen Aumond in my life, it looked like my old home town. I pointed to a ginger Viking-like dwarf sitting on a bench and said "That's Nazom, my friend and past travelling buddy.", I then introduced my group to a male and female gill-man like individuals.

I wondered where my house and family was and found them. It turns out I had a pet "slime". It looked like a blue eukaryotic single-cell organism, the size of a big cat but behaves like a loyal dog. It leaped over to me, wrapped around my all excitedly, then I commanded it to "sit" which it did. The slime had a backstory when it was once a poison-based slime monster, but I somehow manage to tame it and purify it, and now it's a loyal pet.

That's all I remember from the dream.

You sure have fancy dreams!

Mine are usually just me walking through a dream version of my town which is usually half abandoned, some creepy old houses there, or watching an F1 race in the 80s. Sometimes I also dream of Star Trek with a lurking monster, or a Resident Evil dream in a lab or school; but I always wake up before any monsters or zombies actually appear.

reading about dreams somehow made me have/remember a dream? in any case, inspired me to remember it -- was napping and....

>be dream
>went to campsite
>couldn't leave on time for some reason
>there is drinking there, one guy drank too much and fell asleep - his friends said he would probably be sleeping there for six hours
>am somehow driving somewhere with them on a bus/van/rv & realize they were talking about the guy they had left at the campsite -- am pretty sure he was sleeping comfortably/safely next to a log that possibly had the inside carved out a little, like a log-boat of some sort...
>we stop somewhere & i explain 2 them that i didn't intend to go with them or something (somehow they didn't notice me going with them)
>they seem confused
>somehow they start singing a song about drinking, in the general style of the music man as performed by a high school
>end up getting comedic lecture in song-form about not drinking too much -- monty python philosopher's song similarity?
>one of the lyrics was that basically that when u get drunk enough u will then say that u will never drink again, which was supposed to (or kind-of?) an epiphany of some sort
>somehow at a cabin/lodge or something - not sure if ok to leave or if door is unlocked as am looking around for doors -- not 100% which door is exit
>think i might need 2 go to bathroom & so should get out of there soon.. also realize am wearing cheap pink alicorn kigu (that i have & am wearing irl) under regular clothes and it shows out sleeves and bottom legs but think they probably dont care
>song ends with something about "jesus town"
>wake up

...dream was kinda low-quality so not even sure if it really counts as a dream & lacking in depth of emotion, etc. but yeah, ...it's pretty obvious 2 me at least where it came from & wat this was about... .....

...guess i do dream of stuff still - just low-quality stuff from not having much of a life outside my apartment..

also going 2 bathroom now

Odense Library.

Once a year they have a  'fright fest", basically a weekend dedicated to the horror genre.

For this, the publisher of the indie horror comic zine Absurd (that I have contributed to in the past) has asked us yo participate in an "art wall"

Basically, we get a spooky short story split in eight parts, and we draw a page each on a large piece of paper on a wall. Basically creating an 8 page comic in real time that people can look at.

 No.1204881

So my night turned into a damn cartoon sitcom.

Power just went out in my apartment at 11 PM. Had to call and wake up my nearly 80 year old landlord  who can't get here until tomorrow. Breakers are in a different part od the buildings where a tenant who isn't home lives.

Thankfully, my parents live basically around the corner , so I slept here - partly tk avoid being home when that old crank barges down my door at 7 AM and starts my day by telling me the 85 reasons he just invented why the outage is my fault even though last time this happened was like three years ago.

It is now 8 AM and he'll be there in 30. So sppatenyly he's more chill than I suspected he'd be. But his behavior before gave me good reason to assume he'll act like I described above.

Oh and also, the cat zoomed inside the second I got to my parents' house, so I had to spend 20 minutes trying to quietly chase her through the fucking place.

Fun fact about the British saints...

Saint George was from Cappadocia (Turkey), I don't know if he ever set foot in Britain.

Saint Patrick was from England. He lived a comfortable life until he was captured and taken to Ireland as a Slave. He managed to get home, but chose to go back to Ireland to bring Christianity.

Saint Andrew is from Galilee (Lebanon), during Roman Empire. He was one of Jesus' twelve apostles. It said he did travel all the way to Scotland, where his cathedral and town named after him is still there today.

Saint Davis is not only the patron saint of Wales, but was actually born, lived and died in Wales.

I don't know how true Irish people feel about St. Patrick's Day parodized with Leprechauns and beer, but I respect how Irish christianity did not object their old celtic ways and instead embrace them. I found an AI app called "Player2".

Like most chatbot AIs, it can be used to talk to characters and roleplay scenarios etc, but it primarily serves as a second player in various games such as Minecraft, Rimworld, Mount & Blade II and other games through modding.

However, both modders and indie game developers have also used it for NPC interaction and dialogue.

I haven't installed it for myself, given I'm a bit suspicious about it in a "too good to be true" sort of way. But the website has both "AI Stories", which is just roleplaying with chatbots, and "Indie Games" where some of the games can be played in the browser.

I just think kind of interesting, especially it's potential.

EDIT: nvm. I can't get it to install.

I figured out how to install it, I even signed up to the site. But I found the "catch" that was conveniently hidden from guest users.

The AI has a "battery" where any interaction with characters cost Js. As a guest, you start off with 1000Js, but it carries over when you sign up.

The FAQ says "It has a generous free daily recharge to use premium models", but doesn't say how much exactly.

To simply put, the free standard package allows for a limited number of interactions for around 2 hours or so with Gemini 3 Flash, which, depending on the game, may not be enough and be rather immersion-breaking when the character you're engaging with stops talking then and there. While paying players get more full use out of it.

Gemini 3 Flash is recommended and default, but costs 0.50J per response. There are other modules to choose from, some costing more J than others. gpt-oss-120b doesn't cost J to use but doesn't seem as spirited as G3F.

I understand that hosting and maintaining AI isn't cheap, but what pisses me off is this information is not available to guest users.

EDIT: Despite using the free model, I think playing a 3D web game used up the last of my Js.

 No.1204951

So, I was going to test this Undertale mod: https://player2.game/games/stecca6663/undertale-ai
But not only was the instructions unclear, but some claim replacing Act with Chat was problematic and some even say it broke Undertale or lead to virus.

I'm having second thoughts about this thing. I'll keep it around though and can always uninstall and delete my account. But the fact Player2 makings pricing information for those who sign up over those who browse is a red flag for me. And having it a point system that's limited for F2P and various prices for various points, which are consumed depending on modules etc, I'd rather have a more straight-forward, more honest payment plan.

But given Player2 have the foot-in-the-door over AI-gaming interactivity, it means elefant can be a tad bit underhanded with it.

And the thing is, I know AI chat sites that are 100% free!

AI Dungeon is mostly for roleplay and offers a limited try for new players. I remember when I first tried it ages back, it did have limits to how often you can reply, but they got rid of it.
AI Dungeon does have paid premium memberships and a micropay credit system, but there is still plenty to do with the free membership.

Agnaistic or "Agnai" is a brilliant alternative to character.ai. It doesn't filter your response, allows you to roleplay with almost* any card from chub.ai, allows you to make your own AI cards and the like and these are just the guest features!
*ᶜʰᵃʳᵃᶜᵗᵉʳʰᵘᵇ.ᵃᶦ ᵈᵒᵉˢ ᵃˡˡᵒʷ ᴺˢᶠᵂ ᵗᵒ ᵇᵉ ᵛᶦᵉʷᵉᵈ ᵗᵒ ᵗʰᵉ ᵖᵘᵇˡᶦᶜ, ᵇᵘᵗ ᶦᵗ'ˢ ʳᵉᵍᵃʳᵈᵉᵈ ᵗʰᵉ ᴸᵉᵍᵃᶜʸ/ᴼᵘᵗᵈᵃᵗᵉᵈ ˢᶦᵗᵉ. ᶜʰᵘᵇ.ᵃᶦ ᶦˢ ᵗʰᵉ ˢᵘᶜᶜᵉˢˢᵒʳ, ᵇᵘᵗ ᵒⁿˡʸ ᵃˡˡᵒʷˢ ᴺˢᶠᵂ ᶜᵃʳᵈˢ ᵗᵒ ᵇᵉ ᵛᶦᵉʷᵉᵈ ᵇʸ ʳᵉᵍᶦˢᵗᵉʳᵉᵈ ᵘˢᵉʳˢ. ᴬˡˢᵒ, ᴬᵍⁿᵃᶦ ᵈᵒᵉˢ ⁿᵒᵗ ˢʰᵒʷ ᵃˡˡ ᵗʰᵉ ᶜʰᵃʳᵃᶜᵗᵉʳ ᶜᵃʳᵈˢ ᶠʳᵒᵐ ᶜʰᵘᵇ.

There's KoboldAI which I say not quite as good or as fast as Agnai but still pretty good. While it's a downloadable module, you can play it online at KoboldAI Lite. While it's free, you can ask it to generate an API for you to use.

I'm just saying, if any of these three AI chatbot service release their own AI interfaces for games... Player2 would be screwed over, just from having more variety, whenever those mentioned three choose to charge for their apps or not.

Cause like, with some of these characters, they have so incredibly been  different across media, with more or less focus on skme aspects of them.

Like, the degree to which Killer Croc is mutated varies greatly between artists and writer. The idea would he to see where *I* end up when I am not trying to draw a specific version of the chatacter, but just seeing what my mind defaults them to. Could be interesting.

we met with my dad's urologist, who ordered the pet scans for my dad to determine what we need to do for the therapy.

we discovered that the cancer in his bones has accelerated greatly, to the point where the therapy would have a substantially less chance of working, and a much greater chance of causing him excruciating pain.

my dad said he didn't want to be in pain for somehting that has little chance of working. and he opted to not do it.

despite the sudden bill, i have enough in savings to float for a while, and i don't anticipate it being long tbh.

well it started when i took a shower, and i noticed a lot of water was suddenly on the floor. and when i flushed the toilet, more water was backing up onto the floor too; as well as the studio next to the bathroom

i know nothing of plumbing, and i was suddenly dealing with a flood in the house, so i had no choice to call a plumber, cause i had no idea how to even assess the situation, let alone fix it myself

the cost was a combination of a mainline sewage block removal, a camera inspection of the line to make sure that there wasn't any deeper issues, toilet removal and replacement, and the fact that it was a weekend. if you ask me, the cost for the toilet moving was exorbanant, but i wasn't in a position to really contest

at the end of the day, it was freaking flushable wipes that was plugging up the damn pipe. i think whoever named them flushable whipes should be sued

did the gang and the druids finally get their crap together to beat the bbg?

Yeah, it's the same for me if something like that happens. I always call in a professional.

From what I heard they often rake in money with the (usually unnecessary) camera inspections. But what's done is done.

I use those whipes too, but yeah, they are often an issue clogging up. The idiotic thing is that on the packages here there's a sign that you shouldn't flush them.

They were making some progress, next time we should be done with this adventure.

well i took a video recording of the camera inspection, so if i have a plumber come by again that wants to take a look, i can show them a video of what it looks like and save me a chunk of change

plumping companies definitely take advantage of being a high need service where most people don't know/want to deal with it

and i think that should be printed on the package, in big bold letters!

I don't know him, so I won't say whenever he was a bad father or not. That's your side of his story.

But I don't think it's wrong that you loved him, no one should be at fault for being able to love. You saw the good in him and, more importantly, saw the bad in him as well.

I'm not presuming you're feeling guilt or the like, just, "to love is good", isn't it?

My dad's career was deeply emotional traumatizing to him, he had to face the dark side of humanity for the sake of justice ... and he used to take it out on us.

Grieving any parent can feel really lonely, but I felt more lonely in my family than guilty, and worried about how my siblings would handle it on the long term. I've wondered for a long time if my brother or sister regret not repairing things like I had tried, especially after the memorial service when a woman we didn't know came up to us to tell ys that my dad was legally bound not to tell us about her, but that he had saved her life.

Things were comparatively a lot easier with my mother's passing cause I didn't feel nearly as alone in the family. Everyone loved her.

Finland have always been kind of cool when it comes to wars. They don't have that barbaric viking blood that Sweden, Denmark and Norway have been known for.

I mean I can only really chime in with what everyone else is saying. By all accounts, you both made this time the best it could be even knowing what was coming - and there really is no "wrong" way to handle grief. Shit will unquestionably be hard for a while, ease up and be hard again. But there's a whole crowd in here that got your back, at the very, very least.

Just remember to allow yourself to be happy, too, and keep reaching out to everyone around you as you need. There's a good chance they need you, too.

i'm doin okay; i made a little memorial vid to share the news with people, and it made me cry, and i got an outpouring of people sending their condolences. so i felt a little emotional from that

It's still a while till the burial, right?

It's good you find a way to 'distract' yourself.

My weekend was good, had RPG yesterday as mentioned. Went out for supper afterwards on my own.

Today there's a ton of meetings on my plate.

oh he is gonna be cremated, per his request. and i have an urn for him. so we aren't having a burial, it's gonna be more of a celebration of life. but we gotta coordinate who's coming and when's a good time for everyone. might be a couple months till it happens

now if only you could engage the meetings like combat in your RPG. roll a nat 20 and explode those kneecaps

some people do, but many also hold onto the urn at home, while others opt to spread the ashes somewhere important.

when my mom passed, we spread her ashes into the pacific ocean off the pier at huntington beach, cause she always wanted to go back to california where she grew up.

well you can always try! no risk in giving the dice a roll, and you may get out of a meeting or two!

I think you'd need a special approval for that here. Most of my family lately were cremated. I think I'll have the whole grave moved to a cemetary closer to me eventually.

it was fine for the most part

i did a lot of kicking drills cause i sorta fell out of it the last couple months, and i needed to get back into the swing of things

then i spent a lot of the day trying to find my dad's tax information, and i was moderately successful, but i realize i don't know what any of the other things he needs to do is, so i fear i will probably have to contact the irs to figure out what his taxes looked like last year

on a more positive note, i learned that the funeral home finished what they needed to do, so i will be able to pick up my dad's ashes and death certificates tomorrow. So now once i'm done with the probate court thing, i can finally just take care of all the loose ends on the estate and put it behind me/take over the necessary payment crap

may the office shudder in fear at your name!

Pony fan theory... What if Equestria's equivalent of St. Patrick's Day is called Clover's Day? A day for Clover the Clever. And that the six founding ponies may each have a day for themselves?

Or maybe they call it something else like "Fair Fortune Day", but I imagine the story behind it is to do with Clover the Clever.

If I was tech-savvy and knew how to mod Fo4 myself, I like the idea of making a Ghost Tour mod for Fo:L.

It could start with Miles Victorian, an occultist in Eastminster's pub The Pilgrim, gives the player a mysterious Holotape called "Londons Most Haunted". While it plays like a regular tape, it unlocks a mysterious radio frequency.

Maybe Miles gives you a camera to take photos of the supernatural, but I like the idea of the supernatural communicating through the radio channel.

Anyway, the quest could take you to various locations across London reputed to be haunted.

me too, according to the will, everything should smoothly go to me, and the process of the probate would be purely administrative with no actual "court" interference. that being said, since the house has a mortgage on it, that may cause issues down the line. i'm trying to take time off to properly grieve/take care of all this stuff, but i may need to return to work to prove to the mortgage company that i have a regular income to pay the mortgage payments. which would suck and i hope i don't have to make that decision soon, but we'll see.

i had a good weekend; my dad's artist group had a memorial thingie for him and i joined, and seeing the artist gallery with his art and all the folk there sharing stories about him was lovely; it was a wonderful moment, and seeing how much he impacted the community is beautiful (also i did not know he has art in a time capsule that will be opened in 2094, so people in the future will know him too)

aside from that, there was a little down time in all the estate stuff, mainly cause a lot of stuff is closed on weekends, so it gave me a bit of a respite, so i got to get back into my own animation and make stuff again; which was really nice, felt somewhat normal again

how was your weekend?

what is something you would want future generations to remember about you?

yeah, or as normal as it can be. doing the coloring and fixing stuff was relaxing in a way. tomorrow i gotta get back into taking care of stuff, first by calling my dad's insurance people, home and auto people, and then the big one is the probate attourney, which will basically tell me everything i need to know going forward on what i need to do/expect. (i also am pretty sure i will need to do a file extension on my dad's taxes, which will give me an extra 5 months)

gaming while alone or with friends is always a good time in its own right! what did you play?

>wink wonk

as for you, i finally got in contact with that probate attourney, and after discussing stuff, i learned that while the whole process will take about 6 months; once i get the "Letters of Testementary", i basically can do anything i need to with the estate, which means it will effectively be all under my control barring shenanigans within those 6 months. this is good for me cause i can finally wrap up all the loose ends with the DMV, mortgage, insurance, etc.

i did ask the attourney how much it will all cost, and he says "the whole process will probably be within the range of $2000 to $4000" which is kinda expected, given he's a lawyer, but i'll have th means to take care of it

aside from that, the artist community my dad was a part of did have a celebration of life at an art gallery he was a part of, and it was lovely seeing his art, meeting folk, and hearing stories about him again <3 i also learned one of his pieces is in a time capsule! so in 2094, people in the future will see my dad's work!

while all good things, it was still stressful, so i felt very drained ><

but i'm now getting back into my art, which has been very refreshing myself <3

he will be our new subject, as we take over his land with the garlic bread. there will be nowhere that shall go un-bread!

perhaps we can really lean into the artistic nature of it

the circular nature of its movements shows the circular nature of life, we move in cycles, night turns to day, day to night. it can also be connected to the spiral, being a drillbit, we dig further into the earth, digging ourselves deeper into the hole of our own dispair, yet we continue knowing this

the drilling fluids are the tears and viscera from our unending desire to drill deeper, leaving small bits of ourselves behind as though we buried our little moments lost into small graves for each piece we moment we leave behind in the past

a burial by a thousand graves

you better watch out for a ouija board in the water! it may happen to you!

It's the newest blockbuster scifi movie that's based on the book of the same name, and it's based on Grace, a scientist that finds himself aboard a ship where everyone else has died, so he has to remember who he is, learn how to run the whole ship by himself, and discover their mission! he remembers that the reason why he is there is because the stars are dying, except for one, and his mission was to go to this one star to figure out why it isn't affected, in the last ditch effort to save Earth from being plunged into a frozen doom. i really enjoyed it, and it definitely did a fantastic job of making you tense up when he has to do risky things, and then cheer him on when he figures it out; and it's refreshingly optimistic and endearing in moments, which is counterbalanced by being mega uber fucked in others. i loved it <3

Hiya,
See heres: >>1205549

For now I gotta go record a little thing we need for the local amateur theater group I am in. Then it's back to the editing desk for videos and pocasts and whatnot.

So I hope you enjoy your day off while I slave away!

I want him to show it to his grandkids someday like it's an actual documentation of an actual ghost fight he had with an actual ghost shark. Do it right before they reach the age where most people start being able to tell fiction and reality apart. Let them think they have a ghost-shark-wrestling grandpa.

Nah, it'¨s not really that. In some of them, the Mummy is quite awesome when it IS on screen. It just takes for fucking ever. But if you're interested I cna give a more detailed account of the individual cases sometime. Bottom line is, we got pretty annoyed by the end of it all.

Over two days across the last two weeks we've watched:

UNIVERSAL
---
The Mummy (1932)
The Mummy's Hand (1940)
The Mummy's Tomb (1942)

The original is the one with Boris Karloff, which has very, very little to do with the "corpse wrapped in bandages" people usually think of. He's more of an undead Egyptian Warlock in that one. Great movie, but not really with any of the mummy action we were hoping to see.

Mummy's Hand is a sort-of-reboot with a new Mummy and not that related to the original. It has more of a "Two-Fisted Tales" Pulp feel to it. It's only 60 minutes long, but it takes about 45 of those till we even get to a dang pyramid. It's at least fairly entertaining till then though thanks to a colorful cast of characters. This is where the classic "shambling mummy wrapped in bandages that chokes people" first appears.

Mummy's Tomb is a direct sequel to that one, set 30 years later. Priest wants revenge, takes sarcophagus to the US and tries to kill the surviving characters from the last movie. Probably the most "evenly spread" with mummy appearences, but it's largely horribly boring inbetween. The bad guy even makes the EXACT same mistakes the bad guy of the lastm ovie did, despite being explicitly warned against it.

Then we watched 2 of the 4 "Hammer" films. Hammer was a british production company that made a ton of horror films from the 50ies to the 70ies, like the famous Dracula and Frankenstein movies with Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee.

The Mummy (1959) is the first one, and is a loose remake of Mummy's Hand.  Here, Christopher Lee is the Mummy, and Cushing is its main target. It's gorgeously shot and very colorful, and whenever the Mummy appears, he's a fucking beast, just knocking down doors and tearing off iron bars... but he has a grand total of maybe 5-10  minutes of screentime, and the rest of it is basiaclly just Cushing talking to people about shit the audience already knows.

The Mummy's Shroud is a later one, from 1967. This time, the Mummy was actually a mummified servant of a Pharaoh's young son. This one has the most entertaining Mummy kills (one scene was downright fantastic), but again is pretty dull inbetween, mostly because we largely deal with some family drama between teh guy financing the search for the Mummy and his son. It also fails to let the most unsymapthetic character who started the whole mess get a proper death scene, so that sucks.

Finally, we saw The Awakening from 1980 with Charlton Heston. This one REALLY tries to be "serious", and is based on a novel by Bram Stoker (who also wrote Dracula). Here, the tomb of a "Nameless" queen (as in, her name was stricken from Hieroglyphics as an afterlife punishment because she was just that evil in life) is discovered, and the priestess attempts to be reincarnated through the archeologist's daughter.

...there is no actual Mummy in it. As in, no Mummy that gets up and does Mummy things. it's much more focused on trying to rip off The Omen and fails spectacularly most of the way. I was really invested the first 30 minuets, and then it just kept failing to follow up on anything cool it sets up.

Its "big climax" is basically just the girl being possessed (which is signified by her suddenly sporting Egyptian style eyeliner and eyeshadow), hissing at her dad and dropping a rock on his head.

So really just a LOT of disappointments. I'd say Mummy's hand and Mummy's Shroud were probably the two that were closest to being what we were looking for.

Aside from 1932 if youre into classic cinema, not really.

Mind you, several of these are by no means terrible movies per se, but when I am promised a mummy I wanna see a mummy doibg mummy things. 1959's main crime is being a bit dull bewteen the mummy scenes.
