that is fine! silent hill games are also known for having multiple endings with esoteric requirements. At least silent hill f lets you know what you need to do on subsequent playthroughs!

i liked shattered memories myself, even if half of it was a running simulator, but the story was good. Silent Hill 2 is my favorite Silent Hill and just one of my favorite games of all time <3 and everything i said last time extends to that one, it's veeeeeeeeerry symbolic and psychological to a T
if i remember correctly there is a menu option that sorta gives you the list of potential endings where you can see what you need to achieve.
and i love the pills in the story, cause it is one of the most benign concepts of a small health item for your character to survive, only to lead to the bad ending because of drug induced psychosis!

Yeah, I agree; I really liked Shattered Memories a well. Especially like the (good) ending.
Silent Hill 2 makes you look at your wife's stupid photo all the time in order to get a half decent ending! I mean, how can you even guess that or begin to realize that?
I realized there has to be something up with them cause at some point there was suddenly lying quite a few on the floor (compared to here and there).

>>1206831actually i'm sorta okay with it in the sense that i get to be a bit of a generalist, and there are already other supervisors that will help in all aspects, so it makes the experience a tad less intense
all the secret triggers in silent hill 2 are tied to the mental state of james in the game, and by looking at your wifes photo so much is him looking back at her with a longing love and pain, which offers a small solace to him as he traverses through hell; whereas if he doesn't look at the picture, it assumes that while you are looking for her, it reflects at how he was more selfish, or saw her more as a means to an end, which is much more of a damning statement of his actions. and by having it tied to something that isn't spelled out, it is more of an honest reflection of the players experience in the game, as opposed to the extrinsic goal of "if i do X thing or collect Y stuff, i will get good ending" like a completionist. it's forcing your honest reflection in front of you!
what i find so sad about them is that it was shu's honest desire to help Hinako's headaches through using them, which makes the sad ending all the more tragic because of it T_T

>>1206832Well, that sounds nice! Easy times at the North Pole this year!
That all makes sense, if you were really James and would miss your wife. But you're not, you're a guy playing the game who has a picture in his inventory. You look at it once, maybe twice to see if anything has changed - that's it.
I wonder if anyone who played Silent Hill 2 has truly figured the pic out by themself (without previous knowledge); or if the makers had to instantly put that info into a game guide.

and as such, you were thinking of the utility of the photo or lackthereof, not looking at it as him longing for his wife, but only as an indication of some benefit; thus the wife only exist in your mind as a means of progress, or a means to an end. poor mary was doomed by a selfish husband that killed her because she became a burden, and with no empathy towards her by the witnesses to their story
and i'm sure somebody discovered it, but i wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people had to ask friends or look at playstation magazines for hints

as i mentioned last time, the silent hill series is much more formalist and symbolic in nature, so the exact nature of events is less relevant than the emotional throughline. to me, the experience the story of silent hill 2 is James finally accepting the nature of mary's death by his hands, and depending on your actions in the game, his decisions from that point. in that ending, he takes his life, in part of the emptiness he feels without mary, as well as the need to atone for his sin. this is one of a few different endings

>>1206880today was a bit of a rollercoaster, but i'm happy to say it didn't end badly all things considered
as i mentioned last night, a temporary crown popped out. and so my paranoid ass avoided eating anything all day until my appointment
i then got a notice in the mail from my dad's phone company with a bill for like $600 out of nowhere! and i rightfully was like "what the fuck is this?" and i called customer service, which sent me to a local store, which then sent me to a corporate store, where they said i had 1 of 2 options; i could either pay it, or i can just leave it be since my father has passed, the debt couldn't be drawn from anywhere. Still they told me to contact my lawyer, which i did, and they said "don't pay it. If collections puts something up, we'll take care of it"
and now that i was more or less relieved of that stress. i went to my dentist appointment, where they popped that crown back in, and i was right as rain!
all while in the middle of a snow storm :P

Yeah. So now we have Star Fox 64, which was already kind of a remake of Star Fox SNES, and we have Star Fox 64 3D, which is a remaster of 64, and Star Fox Zero which is to 64 what 64 was to the SNES one, and
then we have the
new Star Fox that's coming out which is
also a reimagining of
gosh darn Star Fox 64 from
thirty years ago because the wider fanbase rejected Star Fox Assault twenty years ago (I was like five and I thought it was great) and Nintendo subsequently decided they're getting the Last of Us treatment forever as a form of vengeance.
...and while I'm very much going to
whine about it I'm still going to buy it because the franchise has been dormant for ten years and I've been denied food for so long that I really don't care that much that today's special is Lylat Wars leftovers again.

outside of Krystal, y'know? I saw a friend play the demo and it looked like it played well, so chances are I'll try it out at some point. It's an oh-boy-two-cakes type of situation for me.
>>1206895>hugsHistory's been really kind to Star Fox Assault. It's not
perfect, but it was a post-64 Star Fox game that put its heart into meaningfully evolving the series and didn't fall flat on its face in doing so, and that makes it unique.
Also oh my
god the multiplayer is fantastic. They developed Assault as a LAN shooter first and foremost and thought of the story and campaign after, and by
god if it hadn't dropped just as online console gaming was becoming trendy it would've been the next Goldeneye 64 as far as that went. Shit's fantastic.

>>1206901That's definitely the selling point for me. Star Fox has fantastic characters that rarely get the chances they need to shine, and I'm hoping this game can provide that. I can sorta take or leave playing 64 again because I mean, Lylat Wars and my N64 are like two feet to my left right now, my TV is old enough to have RCA ports, I can just play that.

Ebisugaoka = Hill of the God of Fortune
But it could also be a play on words such as "ebisugawa", which means vigilance or precaution, something you usually need to be quiet for.

It's also very based on using parries and doges to get in some hits, so your timing gotta be excellent. Mine just isn't.

But there are elements from both Resident Evil and The House of the Dead that I like that I would like to put them together and make my own content from it.
One idea I had was a zombie survival game set in the late-1800s. Instead of sci-fi or magic, a mad scientist who uses alchemy over science to turn local villagers into zombies.

Usual generic zombie games are set in modern times and involve some secret laboratory outbreak or the likes. I figure to mix it up a bit by changing the time period.
Even Resident Evil 4 and 8 implies that the outbreak was aided with more primitive and archaic laboratories than the science provided by Umbrella.
But I'm just spitballin'. If I ever get the Steam Frame, I might give Unity another go given I have this VR "belt" gameplay in mind... but we'll see.
I'm still waiting for my email for my Steam Controller. Given the steps VALVe put in to prevent scalpers, I hope I can purchase it with my Steam Funds.

At my weekly D&D game, we're 6 players and a DM. Four of us are in our 30ies and have known eachother a while and played together before.
Two of the players are young, like 12-14 ish and new to the game. So naturally, for the weeks we've played, they've been a little shy about voicing ideas, joining in on our joking around, trying things, etc. Makes total sense. No one is on their case about this and we do our best to encourage them. Thankfully, they do keep coming back. So clearly they are enjoying themselves to some degree.
Today, we were in a big boss battle. One of these kids, a Ranger, has two attacks thst turn.
He fires his bow, but rolls a Nat 1. The GM rules that this means his bow snaps at a critical moment.
He hesitates, then states he wanrs to try and throw his two daggers at the bad guy. Fine idea in a pinch.
GM reminds him he only has one attack yet, so he'll only let him throw one.
Beat.
Kid looks up with the smuggest grin responds "hey now - I've got two arms."
He didn't get his extra attack. But he DID get the whole table laughing with what he clearly intended as a quick moment of shit talk.
Y'all, I think I just experienced fatherly pride.

Just woken up from a dream that inspired me with a story.
The Daughter of Frankenstein.
It's about a woman named Victoria Frankenstein who was a master surgeon. Maybe her husband is an alchemist named Henry.
They had twins. Mary and Shelly. But a terrible accident made them lose both their daughters.
Refusing to lose their daughters, they try "rebuilding" them, but given both brains and bodies were severely damaged, they decided to salvage the functional organs and parts and put them together.
The awakened daughter suffers from a severe personality disorder where they feel like the two sisters in one body.
Unlike the original Frankenstein story where the creator rejects the creation, Victoria does her best to help her daughter/s adjust in their new body.
That's all I thought of so far. I did consider making my own shared classic monster-verse of sorts like what Universal Pictures did.

An idea my mother suggested is the daughter requires some sort of life-essence or fresh parts, thus the parents keep on killing.
I myself think the father, who could be an alchemist to begin with, ends up as a mad scientist. If he could bring back his daughter, what are the limits of his skills?

>>1207195Right now, I'm still fleshing out my Barbarian story.
Thing is, I can't animate, nor do I really have the fortitude to make a comic.
But, I was thinking I could
probably make animations with minimalistic animated style inspired by Sonic and the Black Knight cutscenes.
And given I don't have a full cast of voice actors to back me up, I'm thinking of using 15.dev or Deepponies to voice various characters.
But I'm still fleshing out a story.
I kinda like the idea/hope that, even though I imagine the use of AI voices will have some criticism, it would still be regarded as a "pilot" project that a studio maybe interested to pick up on it.
