Were you a Ratchet or Jak lover back in the day?

I liked both, but more a Ratchet lover myself.

 No.1211792

I didn't have any of the Ratchet games as a kid. Hell, I didn't really play any of them until the PS4 remake.

On the other hand, the first Jak and Daxter was one of the first PS2 games I even saw. A friend had it and I played it at her place, and made sure to get it when I got a PS2 of my own.

I am more of a fan of the Fantasy aesthetic of the first game overall, but I remember more of playing the second game.

Now I kinda wanna revisit them, I ave not played these game in a LONG-ass time.

When I played platformers, I guess I was a Sonic?  Then I moved on to darker platformers like Soul Reaver.

I think the Ratchet and Clank series has aged better

I do love Jak and all but the dark and edgy tone shift in 2 was and is still kinda of funny

Also Daxters personality change in 2 and 3 being "I'm really horny for women' is uh

Yeah, that's something alright

Yeah I prefer the innocent vibe that defined The Precursor Legacy, much like how the Crash and Spyro games were before it.
And more focus on the platforming stuff too.

Jak and Daxter were BOTH horny in Precursor Legacy, just sayin.

Ive never played a Ratchet game before. My cousin was the one with the Playstation back in the day and he only had Jak. Eventually I got my own Playstation and continued with the Jak trilogy and didnt really know about Ratchet.

Jak has definitely aged considerably and it doesnt have modern games to rehabilitate its image or popularity with old or potential fans. There are aspects of the old Ratchet games that didnt age well, but there are modern Ratchet games as well that help the series stay up to date and fresh in people's minds.

I mean, they did have Keira around.
I'm not gonna pretend I didn't find her cute at the time.

The Lost Frontier definitely felt like... an ATTEMPT to pull back on what Jak 2 and 3 did. Dunno how many people actually played it though.

 No.1211869

I was never too big into either franchise personally.

I only ever played a bit of the original Jak and the original Ratchet games. Both were alright in my opinion, but not must-buys so I never really played beyond the rental period at Blockbuster

 No.1211920

For people who played R&J and J&D, did the games feel totally different?

 No.1211946

>>1211920
Yeah? They're totally different games.
